The Blood of Lanthander is a powerful mace imbued with magic in Baldur's Gate 3, serving as a legendary tool you can find behind a series of tricky puzzles within a hidden monastery.
To get to this location, you must first collect various ceremonial weapons linked to a quest. Many traps and other dangers await those looking for this sacred artifact, so be prepared to face a series of challenges.
The areas around Blood of Lanthander are guarded by constructs and githyanki, making this a difficult place to explore at lower levels. Be sure to recruit the Lae'Zel companion if you can before trying to find the weapon, as she might help you talk some of the guards out of attacking your party.
Baldur's Gate 3 – Where to find the Blood of Lanthander
Rosymorn Monastery contains the Blood of Lanthander, but your party cannot reach this place without first opening the Githyanki Nursery, a circular dial with four sections.
You must gather four ceremonial weapons and place them on pedestals around the location to reveal the path to the monastery. Items are scattered around the area, with different tests for each one:
- Ceremonial Longsword – Found already on one of the pedestals, you don't need to do anything else with this item.
- Ceremonial Battle Ax – Located southeast of the Creche, where a Guardian of the Faith must be defeated to obtain the weapon.
- Ceremonial War Hammer - In the Eagle's Nest above the Monastery, where you have to trade or kill the eagles near the item to get the War Hammer.
- Ceremonial Mace – Wielded by one of several Kobold enemies that can be defeated in a small room near the Creche.
When you open the Creche using all ceremonial weapons, you can travel to a Githyanki Stronghold, whose guards won't let you in unless you eliminate them in battle or trick them into letting your party pass.
You'll need to get the Gith Shard item from the Captain's Quarters in the stronghold to unlock a magical barrier that prevents you from reaching the lower levels of this location.
Traveling to the Inquisitor's Room beyond the stronghold's barrier leads to a small puzzle where you must move two statues into a room with a large map. A strong Perception check will tell you to push the statue on the right so that it faces the west of the map and the statue on the left faces east. From here you can enter the next room where the Blood of Lanthander is nearby.
- The first crystal is left in the chamber, hung on the wall for a ranged attack or magic spell to destroy.
- The second one can be seen in a cave after the first crystal, after a few more traps.
- The last and final gem powering the barriers is to the right of a blocked door guarded by a unique trap that emits beams of light that can harm your party members.
Dropping all the crystals clears the way in the Chamber of Dawn to an altar, whose magic prevents anyone from collecting the sacred weapon. Using the Crest of Dawn from the first area puzzle, you can finally find the Blood of Lanthander within reach in Baldur's Gate 3.
